The Government has relaxed the rules on exercising and the ECB has applied the new restrictions in a new set of guidelines for net practice at clubs throughout the country.
This is what we have to do, to practise:
• No more than 2 people in a net at a time but 6 can attend to practice, as a group, each taking their turn bowling.
• Players outside the net to keep 2 metres apart at all times.
• In 2 adjoining nets, only one net to be used.
• Nets MUST BE BOOKED for specific time slots and records kept (for contact tracing)
• A committee member has to be on site while the nets are in use
• All players to use only their own equipment – including balls
• Hand sanitation required
• Players mustn’t use saliva or sweat on the ball
Several committee members have agreed to make a special effort to make themselves available to oversee the nets on evenings and week-ends so that you can practice. Here’s how it will work:
• One net will be available and the cage can be rolled onto the artificial wicket on the square (if we get the Council to agree, as the square is currently fenced off).
• Players must book their net session. DO NOT JUST TURN UP.
Bookings will be taken for the following times:
Saturdays & Sundays, 1pm to 7pm. (Last booking 6.15)
Tuesday-Friday, 5.30pm to 8.30pm. (Last booking 7.45)
• Bookings are for 40 minutes with 5 minutes change-over. First come first served.
• Book as many sessions as you need, back-to-back. For example, a group of 6, booking four sessions, allows all 6 to bat for 30 minutes each. If that's too long, just book 3 sessions.
• Bookings should be sent by text to Helen Canning on 07814 357058
• Smaller groups, such as a parent and child, can still book for 40 minutes, whch will limit the availability of nets for larger groups.
• We need at least 2 bookings per day to make it worthwhile, otherwise that day’s bookings will be cancelled.
• This net practice is only for players aged over-18. Juniors can practice with a pre-organised coach or household members only and need to book in the same way as seniors.
• Players who have booked can do some fielding practice, away from anyone else, before or after their net session.
• The bowling machine cannot be used.
All players, all bookings, YOU will need to observe the following.
• If you have, or think you have the Covid-19 symptoms, you must not turn up for a net
• Wash your hands at home before and after using the nets.
• Bring your own hand sanitiser.
• The club will be closed, so use your own toilet facilities before arriving
• Bring your own filled drinking bottles.
• When batting, knock or kick ball back to the bowler. Don’t pick it up and throw it.
• As the bowler, if you get smashed back over your head, you have to fetch the ball, not rely on anyone else.
• Do not overstay your allocated time slot. You should be clear of the area by the time the next players arrive.
